|Hoover Platinum Lightweight Bagged Vacuum with Canister|
The Hoover Platinum Lightweight Vacuum is well known for its suction power when used on carpet. This is partly because it is a bagged vacuum and these typically do a better job cleaning carpet than bagless models do. Many people that own this model have commented about the great job it does cleaning the carpet in their homes. Hoover uses their WindTunnel Technology with the addition of direct air flow to suck dirt and debris from carpet. People that have pets are extremely concerened about a vacuums ability to pick up pet hair. With the great suction power this model has it does an excellent job extracting pet hair from your floor as well as your furniture when using the included canister vacuum.
We contacted Hoover to find out the CFM number for the Platinum Lightweight or the Air Watt number. We spoke with three different people and they were not able to provide us with the information. We do have a message in with another department of the company and they are supposed to be contacting us to let us know this information. As a general rule vacuums in this price range tend to have a CFM of somewhere between 45 to 55. We will update this info if Hoover does provide it to us.
Ease of Use -
The Hoover Platinum Lightweight is just that, very lightweight. It weighs in at just over 11 pounds and the canister weights just over 5 pounds. Since this model is lightweight it does a great job on low to medieum pile carpet. Some people have complained that the vacuum is hard to move when used on high pile carpet. This is because the vacuum has auto height adjustment settings and it may not be able to go high enough for hile pile carpet, so this is something you may want to take into consideration. This also comes into play when using this vacuum on hardwood flooring or other hard surfaces such as tile.
The Platinum Lighweight comes with two different power brush speed settings. It does not however come with an off setting, so if the vacuum is turned on then the brush will be spinning. Some people feel that this makes it hard to use on hard surfaces. The brush does not go low enough to actually hit the hard flooring, so if you have nice hardwood that you don’t want to scuff up then you may want to choose a different vacuum. If your home is mostly carpeted then this is a great option to clean carpet and you could purchase a steam mop or something similiar to clean your hard surfaces.
The Maneuverability is excellent on this vacuum. The upright portion lowers all the way down that that is can easy clean under beds and other hard to reach areas. It also has and LED headlight that makes it easy to see the floor as you vacuum. If you are wanting some range with your vacuum then this one would be a great option. It comes with a 35ft power cord, which is higher than most other vacuum brands and models that are currently on the market.
Because this model comes with a canister vacuum it makes it super easy to clean stairs and hard to reach places. The cannister is very quiet, has powerful suction, and has attachment slots located directly on the cannister. There is a carry strap for the canister (that can be adjusted), which makes it easy to carry around as you clean.
For the most part this is one solid vacuum. Many people that have purchased the vacuum love how durable this product is. It comes with a lifetime LED headlight and a lifetime belt. Many users commented how this product was well worth the money and that is was worth every cent they paid for it. This does not mean however that it is free from faults just like every other vacuum. Although these issues are not common they are things that you should be aware of before making your purchase. There is a known issue with the circuit board of the Hoover Platinum Lightweight Vacuum. If you catch this problem early after you purhcase your vacuum, your best bet may be to return it to the place you purchased it and get another one. We like to call these lemons. They can be difficult to get fixed and it is not always easy to get a claim on a warranty with any manufacturer. Just remember in most cases this vacuum performed great over time and had lasting useful life.
It does come with a limted 6 year warranty. This covers original defects as well as workmanship for a six year time frame from the date you purchase your vacuum. It is also important to note that in order for you claim to be valid you have to follow the maintenance guidelines that come in the instruction manual. The warranty does not cover all aspects of your vacuum though. Things not covered include the disposable bag, the brushroll, any damage from misuse, natural disasters, or vandalism. If you plan to use this vacuum in a commerical setting then you will also not be covered.
This model comes with a HEPA bag filter. This filtration system has a 99.97% at 3 microns filtration rate. The bag is very easy to change out and does a good job of keeping dust and such from escaping back into the air within your home. The one downside is that the bags do cost around $5 a peice, but they are high quality and are made from a fabri-like paper. If you are looking for a vacuum that does a good job of filtering all the stuff that gets sucked up and keeping it out of your air system, then this would be a good vacuum choice for you.
Our Review -
Overall this is one of the most poplular vacuums amongst consumers that we tested. It is relatively inexpensive for what you actually get. No other models came with a canister vacuum on the side. It is bagged, which means you should expect the suction power to last longer compared to a bagless with filters. It is well known for what it does best, and that is clean carpets. If your home is mostly carpeted and/or you have pets then this product will really help you to keep your home clean. Its 6 year warranty will help to protect you from product defects as long as you follow the maintenance instructions. If you do decide to purchase the Hoover Platinum Lightweight Bagged Vacuum with the canister, you won’t be disappointed. Your hard earned money will be well spent.
