|Hoover Cyclonic Bagless Upright Platinum Collection Vacuum|
The suction and cleaning capabilities of the Hoover Cyclonic Bagless Upright Platinum Collection Vacuum are superb. This new model manufactured by Hoover uses a combination of their windtunnel technology and their cyclonic technology. This allows the vacuum to have the best of both worlds. Many consumers that own this vacuum have commented that it just seems to pick up everything in sight. Most people would assume that this type of bagless vacuum would only be great at cleaning carpets. This particular model is designed to effectively suck up pet hair better than many vacuums are able to. It also is great at clean hardwood floors and other hard surfaces. One reason why it excels in this area is because the Cyclonic Bagless is designed with at automatic height adjustment system. This allows the vacuum to automatically change suction heights when moving for carpet to hard floors. Another great feature is that fact that when the vacuum is turned on and in the upright position the brushes actually turn off. We have contacted the manufacturer to see if they will provide us with either the Air Watts this model produces or the CFM numbers. This would to provide a more accurate comparison to other models on the market. We are expecting hear back with this information and will provide an update at that point in time. Generally vacuums in this price range will have a CFM of somewhere between 45 and 55. So at this point we will assume this particular model sits comfortably within that range.
There are a couple of things people did complain about that we wanted to bring up. The first is that in some instances the dirt indicator on the vacuuum does not work very well. The dirt indicator is designed to inform you what areas of your carpet are dirty and need vacuuming. Sometimes the indicator continued to say the floor was dirty even after it was already cleaned several times. This is not something that many consumers complained about, but it did come up on occasion. The second issue is that in order for the vacuum to suck at its highest level over time it is very important to make sure the inner portion of the dirt cup gets cleaned out regularly. Debris can build up in this area and can cause this Hoover Cyclonic to loose some of its suction power. To fix this just make sure to keep the inner cup area clean every time you empty the canister.
Ease of Use -
Probably the best features of this particular vacuum are its features and how easy it is to use. Hoover tried to add as many features to this vacuum as they could think of. One of the first things you will notice is the electronic start and stop button. This actually sounds similar to a car when you push the button to start the vacuum. So not only does it sound cool when you start it up, but it also runs very quiet. Another really cool feature is how ginormous this power cord is. It measures in at 40ft and has one of the longest cords of all the vacuums we have tested. The attachment tools that are included are functional and work exactly as they are designed to. One thing that many consumers look for in a vacuum is and extension hose that easy to use and has flexibility. This model excels in this area. The controls to the vacuum are located right on the handle of the vacuum and are very easy to access. The height adjustments controls along with the power button is located right on the handle. If you are someone that only likes to purchase a vacuum that includes a light on the front then you are luck because the Hoover Cyclonic Bagless has a bright LED light on the front that lights up the area you are vacuuming.
Some of the areas where this model did not excel include the following. The power cord did not auto rewind, for many this is probably not an issue, but some people enjoy a vacuum that auto rewinds the power cord. Another item of note is that this model is a little on the bigger side and does not easily fit into tight places such as under a bed. It weighs in at 21.5 lbs, which is towards the higher end of all the models we tested. Some people complained that the extension wand was short, but during testing after attaching the extension wand and stretching out the hose we were able to reach most any area want people to clean, so this should not be much of an issue for the majority. The last area that consumers struggled with when using this vacuum was during the emptying of the canister. Their were complaints that it was difficult to close properly after it was opened. This easiest way to close the lid is to hold down the same button that opened the lid while you are closing it and this seemed to solve the issues immediately. Without holding down this button while closing the lid it was a little difficult to close, but this is a super easy fix.
This vacuum was fairly easy to put together. We just followed the instructions within the owners manual and the vacuum was put together in no time at all.
The Hoover Cyclonic Platinum Collection Vacuum seems to function like a work horse. There have been very few comments from consumers about this model failing after purchase. It is backed by one of Hoovers best warranties. The 6 year limited warranty covers manufacturer defects and workmanship for the full 6 year time period and includes coverage for parts as well as labor. This of course is started from the date your purchase the vacuum and can only be claimed if you follow the guidelines that are outlined with in the owners manual under the warranty section. It is very important to maintain the vacuum properly in order for the warranty to be honored by Hoover. One of the most important things is that you do not use this Hoover for commercial purposes. This will automatically void the warranty. Other items not covered include the HEPA filter, brushroll, and Primary filter. If you misuse the vacuum or it is struck by lightning then you can also expect to not get approved for a warranty claim.
This Hoover Bagless Upright comes with 3 different filters throughout the vacuum. Most vacuums we tested do not have this many, but the good news is that these are all designed to be lifetime filters. These can be permantaley used throughout the life of the vacuum as long as you maintain them properly and clean then at regular intervals. Each filter has its own cleaning schedule which is outlined in full detail within the owners manual. Not only does it explain when they need to be cleaned to maintain a healthy vacuum, but it also provides detailed instructions on how to do so. The first one is the primary filter and is located in the back of the dirt cup. This can be cleaned using water for a few minutes and then air dried before reinstalling it back into the vacuum. The second is the umbrella tube filter or cyclone filter. This is located inside of the dirt cup on the bottom side. It is important to clean this one on a monthly basis. The last filter is of course the HEPA filter, it is located at the base underneath where the dirt cup rests. It needs to be cleaned once every two months. It is a lifetime washable filter and should last for as long as you decide to use this vacuum. It filters at a rate of 99.97% to 3 microns.
Many consumers commented at how wonderful the air in their home smelled after using this vacuum to routinely clean their floors and carpet. This is excellent for those that have allergies and need a vacuum to help keep the dust and debris out of the air.
